Fresh from our greenhouses. Made in our communities.
Growing Sierra Leone's Future, Naturally
Mabunduka Agro Farms SL Ltd is a Sierra Leonean agribusiness producing fresh vegetables, quality rice, and value-added cassava products through climate-smart, eco-friendly farming. From our greenhouses at Newton in the Western Area Rural District to our 400-acre farm in Karene District, we work hand in hand with rural women and youth to feed communities and build livelihoods — from Sierra Leonean soil to your table.
A Sierra Leonean agribusiness built with farmers, for the future.
Mabunduka Agro Farms SL Ltd (MAF SL) was incorporated as a limited liability company in Sierra Leone in 2015. What began as a small farm has grown into a medium-scale commercial farming and agro-processing enterprise operating across the Western Area Rural, Kambia, Kono, and Karene Districts, with collaboration extending into Bo and Bombali Districts.
Today, the company manages 400 acres of farmland in Karene District and 10 acres in Kambia District, cultivating cassava, rice, vegetables, maize, cashew, potatoes, pineapples, and ginger. We combine modern greenhouse technology, drip irrigation, and solar-powered systems with organic and climate-smart practices to grow food sustainably — giving our customers consistent quality and year-round supply.
Every purchase from MAF supports rural livelihoods, women in agriculture, and sustainable food production in Sierra Leone.

Karene District — Farm & Cassava Works
Our 400-acre farm and agro-processing operation works with out-grower farmers across Mabunduka, Masisan and Bomeya villages, growing rice and maize and turning fresh cassava into High Quality Gari, Cassava Flour and Starch.
Our Mission
To build a profitable and competitive agribusiness that delivers high-quality, eco-friendly farm and processed products at competitive prices — creating sustainable revenue for the company, reliable markets for our out-grower farmers, and the social, economic, and environmental conditions in which our communities can thrive.
Our Vision
To be Sierra Leone's leading producer of value-added, eco-friendly agricultural products — a growing, profitable enterprise expanding into local and international markets while driving sustainable and inclusive agricultural development.
What sets us apart
Greenhouse cultivation, solar-powered drip irrigation, and organic practices that protect the land for future generations.
We don't just grow crops; we process them into high-quality finished products like gari, cassava flour, and starch.
Our out-grower scheme engages farmers from 10 communities in Karene District, with women and youth making up 80% of participants.
A proven track record implementing projects with international organizations including FAO, UN Women, the World Bank-funded Food Systems Resilience Programme, and Solidaridad.
MAF SL is led by a dedicated and experienced management team covering executive leadership, farm operations, finance, and procurement.

Our model: Grow, Process, Empower
Three things define how we farm — and below them, the full model that turns crops into livelihoods.
Climate-smart production
Eco-friendly greenhouses, drip irrigation and integrated pest management help us grow more with less water and fewer chemicals — protecting your health and our environment.
Farmers at the centre
Our out-grower model gives smallholder farmers — many of them women — training, inputs and a guaranteed market, raising incomes across our communities.
Quality you can trust
From seed selection to harvest, processing and packaging, we follow strict quality procedures so every product that carries our name meets professional standards.
1.Climate-Smart Production
We grow using eco-friendly greenhouses (300m² structures with boreholes, water tank towers, and solar submersible pumps powering drip irrigation), alongside open-field cultivation with organic and conservation agriculture practices. This means reliable, year-round production with minimal environmental impact.
2.Value Addition & Processing
At our agro-processing centre in Mabunduka Village, we transform raw crops into finished products using modern equipment — cassava processing lines for gari and flour, rice milling and parboiling, and maize threshing. Value addition reduces post-harvest losses and keeps more of the value chain in local hands.
3.The Out-Grower Scheme
We have contracted 500 out-grower farmers across 10 communities in Karene District — 80% of them women and youth — who grow cassava and other crops for our processing operation. We supply high-yielding planting materials, seeds, training, and machinery services, organise farmers into cooperative groups, and provide a guaranteed market for their harvest, supported by our 500MT storage facility.
4.Training & Capacity Building
Through Farmer Field Schools and hands-on mentorship, we train farmers in good agricultural practices, climate-smart and organic agriculture, quality enhancement, farming as a business, and the safe use of processing equipment. We have trained over 230 women and youth farmers to date, and helped establish Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) in seven communities so farmers can save and invest in their own futures.
5.Partnership Delivery
We implement agricultural development projects on behalf of international partners — from constructing greenhouses and irrigation systems to running youth employment programmes — bringing professional project management, transparent procurement, and measurable results.
6.Sustainability & Accountability
We respond to climate change by turning waste into value — reusing cassava peels for animal feed and biofuel — running solar-powered pumps and biomass energy, and supporting reforestation and climate-smart farming in our partner communities. Behind the scenes, our operations run on professional systems: computerised accounting (QuickBooks), dedicated monitoring and evaluation, and quality control from farm to finished product.

Trusted by international development partners
Mabunduka Agro Farms implements projects and works alongside respected national and international partners in sustainable agriculture — a reflection of the professional standards we hold ourselves to every day.

Under the 'Women's Empowerment through Climate-Smart Agriculture in Sierra Leone' initiative, UN Women equipped MAF with value-addition machinery — rice mill, rice parboiler, maize thresher, palm fruit digester, and cassava processing equipment — benefiting six communities and empowering over 300 women in Karene District.
FSRP supports MAF's rice production on 177 acres of boliland and swamp farmland in Karene District, and our agro-processing expansion under the Matching Grants programme.
Under the Boosting Agriculture and Food Security project, MAF established nurseries and distributed 20,000 cashew and cocoa seedlings to 230 women and youth farmers, set up demonstration farms and Farmer Field Schools in 10 communities, and established a Farmer Support Centre in Mabunduka Village.
Partnered with MAF to establish and manage a cashew nursery supplying 20,000 seedlings in Mabunduka Village, Karene District.

Development partner supporting MAF's sustainable agriculture and community empowerment initiatives in Sierra Leone.
Rooted in Community: Mabunduka Agro Farmers Association
Mabunduka Agro Farms works hand in hand with its sister organization, the Mabunduka Agro Farmers Association (MAF CBO) — a Community Based Organization registered with Sierra Leone's Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.
Founded in 2016, the Association brings together smallholder farmers across the Western Area Rural, Kambia, Kono, and Karene Districts. While the company focuses on commercial production, processing, and marketing, the Association is the community heart of the Mabunduka family — organising farmers, championing women's and youth participation, and ensuring the benefits of agriculture reach the villages where our food is grown.
Together, the company and the Association form a complete value chain — from community farms to processed products on supermarket shelves — with women and youth at the centre at every step.
